What student support does the Barbican Training Centre offer?

How do I enrol in these programmes?
As there are a limited number of places available for these, you are required to register for an information session. Information sessions are held prior to the next intake.  When the next intake date is finalised, you will be advised of the date and time of the relevant information session. You must attend an information session to enrol in this programme.  Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis for students who provide correct and complete documentation.

Am I eligible to enrol in your programmes?
Our NZQA programmes are open to all New Zealand citizens and permanent residents and Australian citizens, aged over 16 years. 

When will be my next opportunity to enrol in one of these programmes?
Programme start dates are detailed on the relevant programme web page.  For details on further planned programme dates, please contact us.

Can I reserve a place at your next information session?
To register your interest in attending an enrolment and information session, complete the registration form. We look forward to welcoming you.

Do I need a computer?
Although some students may find a computer useful, it is not a necessity unless otherwise specified. 
You will receive a range of quality resources that may include a textbook, DVD, module books, activity books, calculator and a scrapbook.  Everything you need to complete the programmes will be provided FREE of charge.
For our Certificate in Applied Small Business Growth and Development programme, you will need access to a computer and printer to complete your assessments.
For those who do have computers, you will find that in many cases, your tutor will give you helpful hints and tips about using Word, Excel and other computer software programmes.

Do I need to take an exam?
There are no final exams for our programmes.  You will be asked to complete written assessments for each module.  Your tutor will inform you when these are due throughout the programme.

Who will be my tutor?
Our teaching team are highly experienced tutors and facilitators with practical small business knowledge committed to assisting you develop practical business and workplace skills. Our team must meet minimum teaching standards coupled with relevant qualifications and experience. Our tutors and business mentors have a range of local, national and international business experience.
In many of the programmes, you will also have the opportunity to listen to and ask questions of expert, external guest speakers, such as lawyers, accountants, marketing specialists, successful business people, etc.  These sessions are always very popular, and you are heartily encouraged to gain as much knowledge from them as you can.  It is not often that you can learn from the experts at no cost!

I am in a wheelchair - can I take one of your programmes?
Our learning facilities have wheelchair access.

I would like to complete my assessments in Te Reo - is that possible?
Yes, this is possible for our NZQA programmes.  However, we need to know on the first evening of the programme so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

What student support does the Barbican Training Centre offer?
We pride ourselves in offering a high standard of support to all participants in our programmes.  We work closely with students to ensure they receive all the support they need to assist them complete the programme.  Our unique support system ensures that we are able to assist you using a range of communication methods to suit varying student needs.
